Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before Visiting Wadi Rum

Clear, authentic answers directly from native Bedouin host Awwad Zalabieh. No middlemen, no hidden fees.

Where is the meeting point in Wadi Rum, and how do we reach the camp?

All tours and camp stays begin at the Wadi Rum Village Rest House or Visitor Center. Safe, free parking is available for rental cars. Host Awwad Zalabieh and our Bedouin team meet you directly upon arrival and transfer you deep into the protected desert reserve in an open-back 4x4 Jeep.

Do I need to pay a deposit or provide a credit card to book?

No deposit or credit card is required. You can reserve your tour or accommodation directly online or via WhatsApp with host Awwad. Payment is settled on arrival in Wadi Rum in cash (Jordanian Dinar JOD, USD, or EUR), and we offer free cancellation up to 24 hours before your trip.

What meals are served at the camp, and are vegetarian/vegan diets accommodated?

Every stay includes an authentic underground "Zarb" dinner (tender chicken or lamb slow-roasted under desert sand and coals for 3 hours with spiced rice and roasted vegetables) and a fresh Bedouin buffet breakfast. We happily accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets with fresh mezze, hummus, salads, and vegetable stews prepared daily.

What is the difference between Martian Star Domes and Traditional Bedouin Tents?

Martian Star Domes are futuristic geodesic domes featuring transparent panoramic glass fronts for stargazing directly from bed, private en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, and climate control. Traditional Bedouin Tents are hand-woven from desert goat hair, offering authentic nomadic charm with comfortable real beds, clean modern shared bathrooms, and fireside tea.

What is included in the 4x4 Jeep safaris?

All jeep tours include a private or small-group open-top 4x4 vehicle, an experienced native Bedouin driver/guide, stops at iconic landmarks (Khazali Canyon, Lawrence’s Spring, Burdah Arch, Um Frouth Rock Bridge, red sand dunes), freshly cooked Bedouin campfire lunch for full-day tours, unlimited bottled water, sweet sage tea, and sandboarding gear.

When is the best time of year to visit Wadi Rum for stargazing and tours?

Wadi Rum is a year-round destination with over 300 sunny days annually and pristine Bortle Class 1 dark skies. Spring (March–May) and Autumn (September–November) offer the most comfortable daytime temperatures (20°C to 28°C). Summer nights offer spectacular, crystal-clear Milky Way core views, while winter provides crisp, dramatic desert landscapes with warm campfire evenings.
